JD.com, Evri partnership to boost EU, UK businesses in the Chinese market

Chinese e-retailing site and supply chain tech provider, JD.com Inc. and Evri, the UK’s parcel delivery company, have officially announced a strategic partnership to foster cross-border commerce to catalyse the growth of British and European businesses in the expansive Chinese market.

The partnership between JD.com (referred to as Jingdong in Europe) and Evri seeks to streamline European businesses’ entry into the Chinese market by allowing them to leverage JD.com’s marketplace, connecting with the platform’s nearly 600 million active customers.

At the heart of this collaboration is the convergence of JD.com’s e-commerce capabilities in China with Evri’s delivery network across Europe.

The initial focus of this initiative will centre on the beauty and apparel sectors and aims to provide businesses with a “seamless and efficient gateway” to access the Chinese e-reailer’s vast customer base in China.

As part of this initiative, JD.com, Inc. will enhance its pick-up service to European and UK brands, offering a suite of services including local pick-up, warehousing, international transportation, access to Chinese bonded warehouses, customs clearance, and comprehensive delivery services across China.

Qun Xue, vice president of JD.com, Inc. and head of JD Logistics International, highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership and said: “By integrating Evri’s extensive delivery network with our cutting-edge e-commerce and logistics solutions, JD.com, Inc. is enhancing our service capabilities in Europe and simultaneously offering European brands a direct and efficient pathway to the expansive Chinese market.”

Furthermore, this collaboration will empower JD Logistics to provide integrated warehousing and comprehensive delivery solutions to clients in Europe. This will be achieved by leveraging Evri’s local distribution network and tapping into JD.com, Inc.’s self-operated overseas warehouses.
