Global sustainability consultancy Anthesis Group has acquired key assets of non-profit Made-By UK Ltd, which went into liquidation in October.
Based in London, Anthesis develops financially driven sustainability strategies with clients including Tesco, The North Face and Target, and says the acquisition will boost its work in the apparel sector and continue its growth in continental Europe.
Made-By was established in 2004 with the aim of making sustainable fashion common practice. Prior to its insolvency process, the organisation had operations in the UK, Holland, Italy, and Germany, and supported brands including Ted Baker, Primark, Asos and G-Star to implement good environmental and social standards that could be maintained within a commercial environment.
Its proprietary benchmark tools, which Anthesis clients will now benefit from, include sustainability progress analysis tool Mode Tracker and the Environmental Benchmark for Fibres.

As part of the acquisition, Anthesis has hired Made-By’s head of sustainable product and story, Holly Browne, and Ria Kearney, the non-profit’s head of sustainable design and partnerships.
