Spanish fashion retailer Mango says its new digital innovation centre in Barcelona will help accelerate its e-commerce and omni-channel selling, and take it closer to becoming a “digital leader” in the fashion sector.

The new centre in Barcelona’s 22@ District will open in early 2019. A small part of the current headquarters team will transfer to the new offices, and together with new personnel, will house 100 staff over the next two years.

Mango did not respond to request for comment from just-style on specifically how the new innovation centre would help to meet its online growth targets or why Barcelona was the chosen location for the new offices.

Mango is Spain’s second-largest fashion retailer and exporter after Inditex, and hopes to grow its online business from 15% of sales currently, to 20% in just two or three years’ time. Head of sourcing Andrés Fernández recently told an industry event how the company is constantly rethinking and revising its sourcing strategy to meet the demands of a changing markeplace: How technology is helping to build supply chain trust
