The retailer explained it is building on its fashion portfolio and has carefully selected the latest brands to complement its own Matalan brand, as well as existing brand partnerships.

The new brands are described as being in line with its pricing and product proposition and aim to offer affordability as well as excellent quality and style.

Matalan explained the introduction of 10 new brands reaffirms its commitment to meeting a diverse range of customers and needs, including a broader selection of sizes and styles, including plus-size ranges.

Matalan added that this expansion will give its customers even more “exciting and inspirational” collections with additional launches planned for the new year and Spring 2024.

Matalan noted that since it launched third-party brands in September last year, it has been agile in responding to customer appetite and demand and has extended and added to ranges that have performed well.

It said that celebrity collections such as Vogue Williams for Little Mistress and Jac Jossa, Gemma Atkinson, Stacey Solomon and Jess Millichamp for In The Style have performed particularly well, with some styles selling out within 24 hours of launching.

Matalan’s chief trading officer Ben Smith said: “We’re so excited to be adding more fantastic brands to our portfolio, brands we know our customers will love to shop. We’re committed to offering our customers a dynamic online experience, and by giving them more choice across our product ranges we know they’ll continue to trust Matalan as their one stop shop as well as remaining a leading online retail destination for families across the UK.”

Smith added that Matalan has been working hard to understand what the customer wants, and in Spring 2024 will be offering more choice in key areas such as holiday shop, occasionwear and outerwear.

Matalan also shared it will be extending its Rocket Dog boot range next year, following a “strong” performance in the past 12 months.

This summer (June 2023), Matalan announced the appointment of two senior executives, Phil Hackney as chief supply chain operations officer and Katherine Davis as chief retail officer.
