Stockholm-based startup Material Exchange Ventures has been named as innovation partner of the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) for the second year running, as it looks to focus on helping brands digitise their processes this year.

Last year, the collaborative partnership set forth to help the apparel industry develop and sustainably grow for the future through digital transformation. Together, Material Exchange and USFIA helped raise awareness on sustainability issues, external pressures on apparel brands and led the discussion on how to digitally transform antiquated supply chain processes, to help improve efficiency and collaboration within the industry.

This year’s partnership aims to further build on these foundations, to work together to address current and ongoing industry issues, and help more apparel brands digitise their processes.

As innovation partner, Material Exchange is constantly developing new ways to help apparel brands better connect to their suppliers. This year will be a milestone year for Material Exchange as it launches the new Open Marketplace to the world in April.

The Open Marketplace is digital material platform that helps apparel brands find the right materials and manage relationships with suppliers directly within a centralised location. It also enables suppliers to become “digital ready” for the industry adoption of digitalisation. In addition to the Open Marketplace, Material Exchange plans to launch the Private Marketplaces – exclusive, invite-only workspaces for brands and hosts to create virtual material showrooms to enable the industry to collaborate and interact with materials in complete privacy.

A calendar of events will celebrate the partnership, while Material Exchange will actively participate in USFIA’s webinars and industry events to provide innovative solutions and insights into topics such as:

“We are delighted to be partnering with the USFIA for a second year, we feel we have made some great changes and developments within apparel over the past year, but our work is not yet done. We look forward to engaging with more apparel brands and help them to digitise their processes and create a more sustainable future for the industry,” says Darren Glenister, CEO of Material Exchange.
