MEXICO: Textile Industry Threatened By Black Market
Mexico's textiles trade is under serious threat from the black market, with contraband and theft two of the major problems.Representatives of the industry met with Eduardo Sojo, a top economic aide of president-elect Vicente Fox, to outline proposals aimed at remedying problems in the domestic and international markets yesterday. National Textiles Industry Chamber (Canaintex) president Enrique Mercado Lamm said industry representatives told Sojo their main problems arose from the underground economy, theft and contraband imports.
