Moroccan garment manufacturer Vita Couture has invested MAD90m (US$9.3m) in two new production facilities in the port city of Tangier.
One of the facilities – Vita Couture – will make ready-made women’s wear garments across 20 production lines and employ 2200 workers, allowing it to cater for large orders from international brands.

The other – Diprints – a joint venture with Spanish textile company Santadarina, is a digital fabric printing facility that will employ 110 workers.
The articles produced will be exclusively for export.
The news was announced by Morocco’s Minister of Industry, Investment, Commerce and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, who said the factories’ operations are aligned with Morocco’s current strategy to develop the textile industry, by reinforcing its production capacities and diversifying its fast-fashion operations.
Mohammed Bouboh, chairman and founder of the Vita Couture-Diprints Group, added the geographical positioning of Tangier and its “quality infrastructure” were key to the group’s decision to invest.

As reported on just-style earlier this year, Morocco’s clothing and textile industry association is optimistic about growth in the country’s apparel sector in the year ahead, with fast fashion sales to Europe driving expansion.
