UK-based plus-size fashion retailer N Brown Group has strengthened its senior management team with a series of appointments, including Phil Barnes as director of supply chain.

Barnes, who will join the company later this month, will report to Ralph Tucker, chief product and supply officer, and will lead the team to further advance its customer service proposition.

A ‘multi-virtual retailer’ operating catalogues, stores and online, N Brown specialises in plus-size fashion, ranging from sizes 10-32 in womenswear and up to 5XL in menswear.

The group has also appointed Adam Warne and Alyson Fadil as chief information officer and chief people officer, respectively. Both will join N Brown in April and report to CEO Angela Spindler.

While Warne will lead technology innovation and the enhancement of IT services across the group, Fadil – who most recently served at online fast fashion retailer UK women’s fashion brand Missguided – will focus on continuing to make N Brown a “rewarding place to work”.

Spindler said the appointments will strengthen the group’s senior team and will help accelerate its transformation to a global online retailer.

Speaking during a recent Fashion SVP sourcing event in London, Angela Gaskell, head of sourcing and compliance manager at N Brown, said that while there’s no “golden ticket” when it comes to building a balanced sourcing strategy, understanding your customer, identifying the right strategy for your company, building trust and working in partnership with your suppliers are all steps in the right direction.
