Bangladesh is hoping to bridge the gap between the present and future of the textile and apparel industry with the launch of a new event that will combine the latest technologies with ideas and discussions.

Taking place on 12 February 2018 in Dhaka, the ‘Bangladesh Fashionology Summit’ aims to “bring together the global apparel industry innovation ecosystem” in one place.

Key themes will include the factory of the future, on-demand manufacturing and mass customisation, eco and sustainable innovation, smart wearables and the fusion of fashion and technology.

Start-ups through to established industry leaders will take part in the exhibition, organisers say, while keynote seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions are also scheduled.

Speakers include Sunil Shewakramani, EVP of apparel at Li & Fung India Pvt; David Leprovost, sales director for south and south east Asia at Lectra; and apparel industry specialist David Birnbaum.

Seminars will look at digital apparel product development, the use of data in the fashion industry, key technologies in apparel’s future, including the use of robots, and mass customisation.
