NIGERIA: Textile Union Questions WTO Membership
A Union leader has called on the Federal Government to review the country's membership of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Far from taking advantage of the promised benefits he says, the country's industry is on the verge of collapse. Issa Aremu, the Acting Secretary General of the National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), told ThisDay that the promised WTO advantages of export and market access to developed economies of Europe and America were yet to materialise.
