PHILIPPINES: Garment Exports Exceed Government Targets

The slowdown in the US economy coupled with the impact of the September 11 terrorist attack, meant that Philippine garment exports ended 2001 7 per cent short of the $3.2 billion exported in 2000. Despite this, garment exports came to $2.974 billion last year, exceeding the government's target of $2.794 billion.
