PrettyLittleThing (PLT) confirmed to Just Style its PLT Marketplace will launch as a UK-only app, with plans to roll out the resale offering to other markets later in the year. While the exact launch date for the app is still to be confirmed, the company explains the marketplace will allow consumers to sell pre-loved PrettyLittleThing garments in addition to fashion items from third-party brands. Sellers and buyers will be able to “chat” directly on messenger within the app and there will be no seller fees when the marketplace is first launched. Sellers will be able to ship products internationally if they so wish, however, they will be responsible for shipping. Existing PrettyLittleThing customers will also be able to log in and import their old PLT orders and use images from the site to demonstrate the item they wish to sell on the app. Sellers can also use their own imagery when uploading fashion items from other brands. The marketplace was announced by PrettyLittleThing's UK and EU creative director Molly-Mae Hague who will sell her old garments on the platform with proceeds going to charity. A number of brands have entered the resale market in recent months, including UK fashion retailer New Look and Swedish fashion retailer H&M Group which launched an online offering of pre-loved items in its domestic market earlier this month. The move came after H&M Group introduced an apparel resale platform in Canada last September. Meanwhile, PrettyLittleThing's parent company Boohoo Group recently gifted GBP85,000 (US$114,902) of its apprenticeship levy to Fashion-Enter Ltd with the aim of supporting young people to earn whilst they learn.
