The SAC explains Razvi and the board of directors have mutually agreed the time is right for her to step away and for the board to identify a successor.
As part of the transition, Razvi will work with the board and the global team through the end of December to ensure a seamless handover.
During this period, the SAC executive team says it will oversee day-to-day operations and key strategic initiatives to provide stability and guidance, ensuring the organisation’s ongoing commitments are maintained.
Tamar Hoek, chair of the SAC board and sustainable fashion policy director at Solidaridad will lead a Transition Taskforce that will be actively involved in the process and no staffing, board or leadership changes are anticipated as a result of this development.
Hoek said: “During her tenure, Amina played a pivotal role in uniting the industry and strategic partners, paving the way for a more sustainable and responsible future.
“Her accomplishments include the development of the SAC’s updated strategic plan, the establishment of new membership requirements, remarkable growth in both membership and the SAC team, and a host of other achievements.”

In a statement, Razvi highlighted the organisation’s role as a catalyst for industry collaboration: “Partnership and community has been at the heart of our success. I wholeheartedly believe that partnership is the new leadership, and together, we’ve demonstrated what’s possible. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”

Over the last 10 years the SAC says Razvi has “played a pivotal role” in the SAC’s achievements and has had a positive impact on the apparel industry as a whole. This includes the formulation of a strategic plan in 2021 to prioritise sustainable impact at scale resulting in a clear trajectory for the organisation.
Under Razvi’s leadership, SAC’s membership has more than doubled since 2019, exceeding 300 organisations, thereby enhancing collective influence for industry-wide transformation.
The Higg Index tools, a key component of the SAC’s initiatives, saw significant evolution with over 24,000 organisations globally adopting them, facilitating standardised sustainability reporting.
The SAC’s global team also witnessed a threefold increase since 2019, fortifying its capacity, expertise, and global presence to fulfil the SAC’s mission.
SAC also highlights that Razvi’s tenure included SAC’s Worldly spin-off in 2019 and overseeing plans for the Social & Labor Convergence Programme spin-off in January 2024.
Key strategic partnerships were established with institutes such as the Apparel Impact Institute, Textile Exchange, ZDHC Foundation, Worldly, The Industry We Want, and Global Fashion Agenda. These collaborations deepened collective efforts to address industry challenges that require collaborative solutions.
In October Andrew Martin, the executive vice president of SAC talked about Responsible Purchasing Practice being the “thread and glue” holding together all other pieces in the apparel industry and bringing clarity and alignment in the face of a regulatory storm, at the Çırağan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul.
