Leather chemicals and coatings company Stahl has been awarded ZDHC Level 3 for a range of performance coatings from its synthetic and coatings portfolio.
Level 3 is the highest level of ZDHC compliance, requiring Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL) conformance for formulations and raw materials, and a chemical management audit.
The award given by the Eurofins Chem-MAP team to Stahl reinforces the chemical companies’ commitment to drive forward value chain transparency in the chemical industry.
“Achieving Level 3 compliance for many of our key performance coating products is a significant milestone toward delivering on our transparency and product stewardship ambitions. Together with the ZDHC Foundation, we can help customers and downstream partners to make informed decisions and shape a better industry. Indeed, by embracing sustainable development – and going beyond minimum information disclosure and regulatory compliance – Stahl aims to deliver value for all stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, partners, and society at large,” says Mel Micham, global market director performance coatings at Stahl.
Georgina Mawer, head of Chem-MAP Consulting, adds: “Being able to award ZDHC Level 3 status to Stahl for their performance coatings, supports both Chem-MAP and ZDHC’s aims of driving safer chemical safety throughout the global textile, leather, apparel, and footwear supply chains.”
