UK lifestyle brand Ted Baker has named Lindsay Page as CEO following the conclusion of an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour levelled at founder Ray Kelvin.

Kelvin resigned from the company last month amid claims he reportedly forced hugs and kisses on employees. Independent law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP (HSF) was appointed in December to conduct an external investigation into the allegations – which Kelvin denies.

In a statement today (11 April), Ted Baker said the investigation and the company’s policies, procedures and handling of employee grievances has now been concluded.

The company said it will not be making any comment on the specific allegations but did report HSF has identified several areas for improvement in the company’s HR policies and procedures.

“We are determined to learn from this process and, moving forward, cultivate a better environment for all employees where they always feel respected and valued,” said executive chairman David Bernstein.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the company confirmed the appointment of Page as its new CEO. Page has led the company as acting CEO since Kelvin’s initial voluntary leave of absence at the end of last year.

“Lindsay has been a key driving force in Ted Baker’s expansion as a global lifestyle brand over the last 22 years. Throughout the process that led to his appointment, Lindsay has demonstrated to myself and the board his unrivalled knowledge of the business and his clear vision on the opportunities and priorities that lie ahead,” Bernstein said.

Yesterday, the brand announced it has inked a new joint venture (JV) deal with Shanghai LongShang Trading Company Ltd (LS) to expand its presence in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.
