A high-profile crackdown on garment manufacturers who abuse Thailand’s import and export quota systems has been launched by the Thai Garment Industry Association (TGI) and the Commerce Ministry. Industry chiefs said on Thursday they will clampdown on anyone caught securing garment export quotas and using them to import garments and then re-export them to make it appear they were manufactured in Thailand.
