THAILAND: Garment Chief Voices Concern Over Falling Exports
The president of the Thailand Garment Association has slammed his country's garment exports as uncompetitive after announcing an eight per cent fall in clothing exports for the fourth quarter of 2001. Suchart Chantranakarach said the United States, Thailand's largest garment importer, was losing out to developing countries such as Pakistan that have been awarded special privileges and as a result have more opportunities to enter the US market.
