UK retailer Marks and Spencer (M&S) has refused to comment on a report it will cutback its vast range of clothing brands under the leadership of new CEO Marc Bolland.
“We don’t comment on speculation,” a spokesperson for the company told just-style, in response to a report in The Mail On Sunday.
The newspaper reported that Bolland is preparing a “cull” of M&S fashion brands that could include Limited Collection, Autograph, Autograph Weekend, Classic Collection or Per Una. M&S has also recently rolled out Portfolio and Indigo under its brand strategy, which caters for a range of ages and price propositions.
Bolland is due to announce his plans for the company in November, having recently taken over as CEO from shareholder stalwart Sir Stuart Rose. Sir Stuart, who recently described the retailer’s clothing portfolio as the ‘broadest church in the land’, remains at the company as chairman.
