UK fashion retailer Carter Clothing Limited has filed for administration, citing a tough trading environment.
The company, based in Belfast, appointed Elizabeth McKeown of Liz McKeown & Co as administrator.
Liz McKeown & Co said in a statement: “Like many retailers Carter Clothing Limited has experienced a difficult trading environment during the past 12-18 months which has been exacberated by a further downturn and general tightening of the credit market.
“The appointment of Elizabeth McKeown of Liz McKeown & Co as administrator has been a distressing situation for the directors, management and staff. The directors would like to pay tribute to staff who deserve recognition for the hard work, loyalty and dedication to the company.”
Carter Clothing Limited will continue to trade as normal while all options are considered by the administrator which may include selling the company as a going concern, the statement added.
