Value fashion retailer Peacocks has signed a EUR19m (US$25.5m) deal with logistics company Ceva to handle its supply chain.
Under the new contract Ceva’s Ocean Plus solution will handle all Peacocks’ ocean inbound supply chain covering clothing, jewellery and footwear. Teams at control towers in Hong Kong and Birmingham in the UK will control the movement of over 6,000 containers from more than 400 suppliers, managing product movement from order placement to delivery into Peacocks’ regional distribution centres.
The solution will provide Peacocks’ merchandisers with real-time visibility, critical to ensuring stock levels are optimised.
Peacocks import manager David Kernick said Ceva’s dedicated freight management office in South Wales, and its proximity to the retailer’s central administration offices in Cardiff and its distribution centres in Merthyr, Nantgarw, Wattstown and Pentre, were important to the deal.
“Their Ocean Plus solution is also robust and dynamic enough to meet our ambitious plans for the future,” he added
The latest agreement builds on a 14-year relationship between the two companies that has seen Ceva provide air import services to Peacocks managed through its Cardiff freight station.
