UK: Women’s Fashions Help Boost Debenhams’ Sales
Department store chain Debenhams on Tuesday revealed a 7.2 per cent rise in same-store sales in the 19 weeks to January 12 thanks mainly to strong demand for its women's fashions. That figure for Britain's third largest department store group beat market expectations of five per cent. Debenhams chief executive Belinda Earl said: "These strong results were achieved against challenging comparatives last year and clearly demonstrate our sustained sales momentum."
