US apparel prices continued to fall in December, marking a fourth consecutive monthly decline for the category. 

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the apparel index edged down 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis in December, and fell 0.4% before seasonal adjustment over the last 12 months. 

The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) declined 0.1% on a seasonally adjusted basis in December. Over the last 12 months, the all items index climbed 0.7% before seasonal adjustment. 

The index for all items less food and energy edged up 0.1% during the month – lower than in November. On an annual basis, the index for all items less food and energy increased 2.1%, its largest 12-month increase since the year ending May 2014.
