US retailer Men’s Wearhouse has created a new workwear unit, with corresponding management teams in Europe and North America, following its recent acquisition of two UK-based workwear firms.

The new Men’s Wearhouse Global Corporate Apparel and Workwear Group has been formed after the firm earlier this month agreed to buy Dimensions Clothing Limited and certain assets of Alexandra, two leading providers of corporate clothing uniforms and workwear.

“We have greatly enhanced our corporate apparel and workwear programs with our UK acquisitions and the appointment of a group of seasoned executives,” said George Zimmer, Men’s Wearhouse founder, chairman and CEO.

“We are very pleased to have retained Dimension’s and members of Alexandra’s seasoned management team as a part of the recent acquisitions. We believe this group of executives can execute our long term strategic vision.”

Stuart Graham has been named as executive chairman of the European Group, working with Simon Hughes, its UK Group CEO, and Tim Gifford, CEO of Alexandra.

In North America, the company has named Edward Doran as group president.

Zimmer described the new group as “an exciting growth opportunity for Men’s Wearhouse” adding: “We believe we now have the people, the products and the platforms to serve our corporate uniform and workwear markets.”
