Retailer Urban Outfitters posted a 46% surge in second quarter profit, thanks to a 20% sales hike led by a strong performance for its Free People brand.
Direct sales were up 36% and wholesale revenues rose 16% in the three months to 31 July, the company said.
“Given the context of an uncertain economic environment, the company continues to focus on superior creative execution, combined with disciplined inventory and expense management,” said Glen Senk, Urban Outfitters CEO.
