USA: Companies Slow To Join UN Business Alliance
A United Nations global business alliance established to uphold and promote international human rights, employment and environmental standards says it has had a disappointing response from companies based in North America. In fact, of the 500 companies worldwide that have expressed an interest in signing on to the Global Compact, the UN says only 47 companies have made submissions for the pilot phase - including US-based Nike Inc, DuPont, Ketchum and Cisco Systems Inc.
