USA: DuPont’s Textiles Arm Axes 2,000 Jobs
Fibre giant DuPont Textiles & Interiors (DTI) said on Monday it plans to axe more than 2,000 jobs - 10 per cent of its worldwide workforce - with its US operations bearing the brunt of the cuts. The Delaware-based company will shut its Terathane PTMEG producing unit at Niagara Falls, New York, and less competitive portions of the spandex operation at Waynesboro, Virginia, by the end of July. Most of the remaining job cuts will be made at its European operations.
