USA: Jeans Firm Ignores Pay Complaints From Axed Workers
Leading jeans manufacturer, VF Jeanswear, said on Wednesday it would not respond to complaints from axed workers at its El Paso plant in Texas about severance packages as it continues with a massive worldwide restructuring programme. The announcement follows grievances from the VF Workers Committee at its plant near the Mexican border where it is making around 1,200 of the factory's 5,000 workers redundant in a move that has triggered demonstrations and vocal protests.
