USA: New Clothing Bill Will Boost African Trade
Up to 13,000 new jobs and £100 million of investment could be created in South Africa if a bill to double the volume of clothing it and other African producers can ship to the US duty free is acted upon by the US government. For the fiscal year that bgean October 1, the amount of qualified African apparel allowed to enter the US duty free is capped at 1.5 per cent of total US imports, rising in annual increments to 3 per cent in 2008.
