USA: Sweatshop Ruling Could Cost Apparel Firms Millions
Up to 30,000 garment workers have won the first round of a legal battle against alleged sweatshop conditions in factories that supply some of the US' biggest clothing retailers. A court gave workers on the Pacific island of Saipan class action status and granted preliminary approval of a settlement reached with 19 retailers named in the original $8.7 million suit.
