Sansar, the world’s leading social virtual reality platform, has launched a fashion market for user-created avatar clothing and a first-of-its-kind integration with South Korean 3D fashion design software firm CLO Virtual Fashion’s ‘Marvelous Designer’ platform.

The agreement enables fashion created with Marvelous Designer to be exported directly to Sansar, where users can take advantage of realistic cloth simulation as they customise the fit and style on their avatars.

Used to create digital clothing in films and video games, the Marvelous Designer platform can virtually replicate fabric textures and physical properties to the last button, fold, and accessory.

“Innovative fashion companies, world-leading film and gaming studios, and creative hobbyists around the world are already using Marvelous Designer to create incredible virtual clothing designs,” explains CLO Virtual Fashion’s CEO and CTO Jaden Oh. “Our integration with Sansar is the first of its kind, and it makes it easy for our users to sell their creations in this new market.”

The company behind Sansar – Linden Lab – opened a public beta for the free platform earlier this year. Founded in 1999, Linden Lab develops platforms that empowers people to create, share, and benefit from virtual experiences. In 2003, the company launched its Second Life virtual world that boasts nearly 2bn user creations and a US$500m user-to-user economy.
