VIETNAM: New Training Programs For Garment Workers
Officials in Ho Chi Minh City have asked two universities to act as fore runners in a program to train workers for the textile and garment industry amid a serious labour shortage that is threatening the sector's development. The area's textile and garment producers, who make 60 per cent of the country's total exports, say they expect to require more than 500,000 workers and 7,000 managers over the next three years, so the training program is an urgent issue.
