VIETNAM: Shoe Firms Missing Out On Exports Say Officials
Officials from the Vietnam Leather & Footwear Corp (Leprodexim) said on Friday they are set to fall short of their $134.6 million export target for 2002 amid fierce competition from rival shoe-producing nations. Announcing a three per cent fall in first-half exports to $55m, Leprodexim chiefs said many firms were missing out on overseas orders as they had not invested in new production machinery and factories.
