The new factory will be the company’s third in India, complementing the two existing factories in Haryana, northern India.
YKK Corporation intends to invest $150m in the project, which will be located at “Origins by Mahindra, Chennai” in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is scheduled for completion in February 2028.

The planned factory, situated on a 149,936m2 site, will have a building area of 74,658m2.
According to the company, the new plant will incorporate its advanced technologies and is designed to meet rising demand from both India’s domestic market and export-focused manufacturers.
YKK stated that the new factory aims to strengthen business operations rooted in the local community by expanding regional employment opportunities and supporting local development.
It also expects the facility to establish a production system capable of “delivering products that meet a wide range of customer needs.”
The site for the new factory spans plots 9, 10, and 11 at the industrial park in Eliambedu Village, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu. The investment covers the cost of land, buildings, machinery and equipment.
YKK’s Indian subsidiary was established in 1995 as a wholly owned entity. The Haryana facility, which began production in March 1997 on 26 acres of land, produces metallic and non-metallic zippers.
In December last year, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the chief minister of Haryana, reported that YKK was increasing its investment in the state by Rs2.5bn ($52m).
