Archroma unveils washing-off auxiliary to enhance colour fastness

A new washing-off auxiliary unveiled by Archroma is set to enhance cellulosic dyeing efficiency while conserving resources and maintaining colour fastness in reactive dyeing.

Called CYCLANON XC-W e, Archroma's trio-polymer washing-off auxiliary is designed to address the limitations of traditional polyacrylate or copolymer agents.

These agents often struggle with the removal of unfixed dyes from fabrics, particularly when there is residual salt from the dye bath or in areas with hard water.

This can necessitate extensive rinsing and multiple wash cycles, potentially leading to quality issues such as backstaining or uneven shade development.

Archroma claims that its CYCLANON XC-W e offers high performance, productivity enhancement, and savings in water and energy consumption without compromising much on costs compared to existing polymer-based alternatives.

It also minimises the substantivity of unfixed dye for the fibre, which leads to more effective dye removal. This reduces backstaining and improves colour fastness even for deep shades.

Benefits of Archroma's washing-off auxiliary

  • Reduces process time by up to 15%
  • Cuts water consumption during the washing-off phase by up to 20%
  • Slashes CO2 emissions by up to 20% due to lower energy usage
  • Up to 20% cutback in chemical usage

These efficiencies also result in increased productivity, says the company.

CYCLANON XC-W e enables mills to process more fabric without additional equipment.

A part of Archroma's SUPER SYSTEMS+ portfolio, CYCLANON XC-W e can be integrated with Blue Magic pretreatment and NOVACRON EC/S reactive dyes for a comprehensive solution for “high-quality dyeing of 100% cotton fabrics”.

As an IMPACT+ solution within Archroma's SUPER SYSTEMS+ Impact Matrix, it offers significant resource savings, high wash durability, and compliance with beyond-compliance chemicals standards compared to standard FOUNDATION processes that comply with ZDHC Gateway MRSL Level 3.

Furthermore, CYCLANON XC-W e meets stringent MRSL and RSL standards required by regulations and brands.

Certifications such as bluesign, ZDHC Level 3, and GOTS 7.0 are in progress for this product.

Archroma global marketing and strategy VP Dhirendra Gautam said: “With CYCLANON XC-W e, we are building on our proven trio-polymer platform to give mills a way to meet rising brand expectations for durable, high-quality casual wear with a lower environmental footprint – all at a cost profile comparable to conventional washing-off agents.”
