The project forms part of Archroma’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The upgraded laboratory is set to expand ICT’s ability to carry out fundamental research in the areas of textile manufacturing and effluent treatment.

In addition, the enhancement is intended to address prevailing industrial challenges while promoting innovation in sustainable and resource-efficient textile technologies.

As part of its CSR initiative, Archroma is upgrading the infrastructure available to students, enabling access to practical training and scientific research.

These enhancements are intended to give students the technical abilities and hands-on experience necessary to develop foundational skills in textile processing that align with future industry requirements.

Archroma India regional vice president Anjani Prasad said: “Our support to ICT is part of Archroma’s ongoing commitment to education and community development under our CSR program.

“We aim to contribute to an improved learning environment that enables students and researchers to develop skills relevant to sustainable textile practices. We are pleased to collaborate with ICT in strengthening academic infrastructure that benefits society.”

The upgraded laboratory for ICT is expected to function as a platform for community outreach.

The department plans to organise training sessions for small business owners, artisans, and local stakeholders. The focus will be on knowledge sharing, eco-friendly processing methods, and value-added techniques that support wider sustainability objectives.

ICT Department of Fibers & Textile Processing Technology head Ashok Athley said: “The upgrade of our textile laboratory, supported through the funding from Archroma, will significantly enhance our teaching and research ecosystem. This will help students, researchers, and community stakeholders access improved facilities and work on solutions aligned with sustainable development.

“We appreciate Archroma’s support in strengthening academic capability for the broader societal benefit.”

In July this year, Archroma entered into a partnership with Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), also in Mumbai, to promote innovation in green chemistry and sustainable technology development.
