As part of the arrangement, Circulose will supply this recycled pulp to Birla Cellulose, which will then manufacture and distribute textile fibre products throughout the supply chain.

The collaboration seeks to reinforce the supply chain and maintain a consistent supply of recycled fibres for sustainable textile production.

Birla Cellulose business head Vadiraj Kulkarni said: “Our partnership with Circulose marks a significant step forward in advancing sustainable and responsible sourcing. Through this collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainability conscious fibre solutions that empower our customers and contribute to a circular future.”

Birla Cellulose, a sustainability-focused man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) producer, operates 10 pulp and fibre manufacturing locations and five advanced research centres equipped with pilot plants and facilities.

Circulose, a Swedish sustain-tech company, has developed a patented method that recycles cellulosic textile waste into a new material known as Circulose.

Circulose CEO Jonatan Janmark said: “Over the past year, we have refined our approach to put brands at the centre, with a clear focus on creating offerings that enable mainstream adoption. Achieving this requires closer collaboration with key partners across the value chain. Our partnership with Birla Cellulose is a cornerstone of our strategy, and we’re very excited to have them onboard.”

In October 2024, Birla Cellulose entered another long-term strategic partnership with Circ, a US-based enterprise focused on textile-to-textile recycling.
