Fashion brands rally behind Circulose’s next chapter

Swedish textile recycling company Circulose has entered into a series of partnerships with international fashion brands as part of its commitment to restoring its market presence.

Among the fashion brands committing to work with Circulose are Bestseller, C&A, John Lewis, Filippa K, Reformation, Bobo Choses, Faherty, and Zero.

Since last year, Circulose has been operating under new ownership and leadership and has set a new strategic direction. The company is prioritising long-term agreements with partner brands to support the return of Circulose to the market at commercial scale.

In June this year, Circulose signed a multi-year agreement with H&M Group aimed at increasing the adoption of circular materials within the industry.

That same month, Spanish retailer Mango also began working with Circulose to integrate recycled cotton fibres into its offerings.

Last month, Marks and Spencer (M&S) partnered with Circulose, a move that M&S’s materials and sustainability head Katharine Beacham said will support the retailer’s goal of using only sustainable materials in all products by 2030.

Circulose is produced by extracting cellulose from used garments and textile production waste.

The material is a type of dissolving pulp suitable for manufacturing regenerated fibres such as viscose, lyocell, modal, acetate and other man-made cellulosic fibres.

These fibres can be spun into yarn, processed into fabrics through weaving or knitting, and ultimately used to create new textile products.

Circulose CEO Jonatan Janmark said: “These partnerships are an important milestone in Circulose’s new chapter. After a year of resetting our strategy and intensely engaging with brands, this wave of commitments shows our efforts are paying off. Their support will help to unlock the next phase of our production journey. We are proud to enable brands who are serious about transforming the textile industry.”
