Organised by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India and MEX Exhibitions, the Kolkata show joins existing editions in Delhi and Mumbai, establishing a three-city presence across North, West, and East India.
According to the organisers, the Kolkata edition targets manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers from West Bengal and neighbouring regions, including Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and the north-east.
The event’s exhibitor profile is expected to include circular knitting and hosiery machinery, sewing and embroidery equipment, garment-making technology, digital printing, dyeing and finishing systems, as well as weaving, powerloom, and jute-processing machinery.
Fabrics, trims, accessories, and related solutions will also be featured.
Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings executive director and board member Raj Manek said: “Our expansion to Kolkata is a natural next step in that journey. Eastern India combines a remarkable textile and handloom heritage with an increasingly ambitious manufacturing community that is looking towards technology, modernisation and new markets.
“We want Gartex Texprocess India to be part of that future growth, connecting the strengths of this region with technology providers, manufacturers and buyers from across India and international markets.”
The organisers said the event responds to growing interest among Eastern India’s manufacturers in upgrading capacity, adopting advanced machinery, and accessing wider markets.
For local firms, the show will provide a platform to present capabilities to a broader national and international audience. For exhibitors from other regions, it offers direct access to buyers in a market where they may not have had a physical presence.
Kolkata’s location links it to neighbouring economic centres and cross-border markets such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, further broadening the exhibition’s potential reach.
West Bengal is home to weaving and craft clusters such as Fulia, Santipur, Bishnupur, and Murshidabad.
Kolkata and nearby districts are associated with India’s hosiery sector and continue to produce ethnic wear, children’s clothing, zari, and embroidery.
The Hooghly belt leads jute production, supplying bags, home textiles, geotextiles, and composites.
MEX Exhibitions director Gaurav Juneja said: “Eastern India's textile and garment industry presents significant opportunities, particularly as manufacturers look towards capacity expansion, modernisation and wider market access.
“Gartex Texprocess India in Kolkata will provide the industry with a platform where manufacturers and buyers can see, compare and source technologies and solutions in one place. For exhibitors, it opens access to a new and important market, while for visitors it brings a comprehensive textile technology platform closer to their doorstep. Kolkata is a market we have been evaluating closely, and we believe the time is right to be here.”
