Jointly hosted by the ICAC in partnership with the Taiwan Textile Federation, and with guidance from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 2026 ICAC Taipei Seminar will address the theme “Strategic Synergies between Cotton and Man-Made Fiber Value Chains.”
The seminar aims to explore how the textile sector can strengthen supply chain resilience, advance sustainable development and the circular economy, and expand innovative blending and high-value-added applications.
The agenda reflects increased sector interest in building more robust supply chains and developing responsible new products.
ICAC textiles head Kanwar Usman will deliver a keynote address titled “Outlook for the Global Cotton Textile Supply Chain,” where he will discuss shifts in global trade, supply chain reconfiguration, and the impact of changing consumer and regulatory expectations.
“The global textile industry is being transformed by shifting trade relationships, geopolitical uncertainty, sustainability expectations, technological advances and changing consumer demand," Usman commented.
"This seminar will bring together expertise from across the value chain to identify practical opportunities to strengthen resilience, accelerate responsible innovation, and create greater value for cotton and textiles.”
Taiwan Textile Federation president Justin Huang will also chair a panel titled “Innovative Textile Blended Applications: From Production to Branding.”
The session will include contributions from Dr Charudatta Mayee, president of the Indian Society for Cotton Improvement, Dr Fanny Liao, executive vice president of Far Eastern New Century and Dr Hans Hsu, president of Ruentex Industries.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in a wider open discussion featuring the speakers and ICAC executive director Eric Trachtenberg.
The seminar will highlight Taiwan’s achievements in green textile processes and circular-economy approaches, as well as innovations in high-value-added textile products.
Since 2005, Taipei has hosted eight previous ICAC seminars, reflecting a continued focus on sector collaboration and knowledge exchange.
This year’s seminar is scheduled at the National Taiwan University Hospital International Conference Centre, with simultaneous interpretation in Mandarin and English available for participants.
