Headquartered in London, Reconomy assists businesses in improving their use resources, increasing efficiency, preventing waste, and returning materials to circulation.

Reconomy manages Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes for textiles on a global scale. It works with international brands and producers to address end-of-life product management requirements such as collection, reuse, recycling and disposal.

By joining ReHubs, Reconomy hopes to expand its network of textile sorters and recycling partners. This is expected to facilitate both closed and open loop recycling solutions and strengthen sector cooperation.

The organisation is active in more than 150 countries, employs over 4,000 staff and serves more than 23,000 clients worldwide.

By joining ReHubs, Reconomy can now collaborate with stakeholders across the textile value chain, including collectors, sorters, recyclers, brands, Producer Responsibility Organisations and policy experts.

The alliance promotes investment, knowledge exchange, and coordinated sector action through joint initiatives and the ReHubs Think Tank.

The announcement comes as Europe faces a growing issue with textile waste. Currently, less than half of used garments are collected for reuse or recycling, while only 1% of discarded textiles are recycled into new clothing.

“We are pleased to be joining ReHubs at this critical time for the sector amid a wave of regulation to address the industry’s persistently low levels of circularity," commented Reconomy Textiles EPR development director Aimee Campanella.

"Joining this alliance strengthens our leadership in textile circularity and we look forward to leveraging our expertise and collaborating with partners to help shape a more sustainable future for the industry.”
