Recover's expertise in large-scale production of recycled fibre and its history of introducing sustainable innovation in the global market are expected to reinforce the alliance's goals.

The alliance, which includes international firms like Circ, Circulose, RE&UP, Syre and Samsara Eco, is dedicated to ensuring that textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling entities gain recognition and support within the EU policy landscape.

It serves as a hub for collective action, advocacy, and networking to ensure that the experience of recyclers informs future regulations.

Responsibilities of T2T Alliance

• Representing the views of textile-to-textile recyclers in EU law.
• Eliminating obstacles that impede T2T industry expansion and scalability.
• Assisting in formulating legal rules requiring T2T recycled content and recyclability in new textiles under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
• Promoting a closed-loop textile recycling approach, encompassing post-industrial, pre-consumer, and post-consumer waste.

Recover's entry into the T2T Alliance comes at a critical time as several legislative initiatives are set to revolutionise the European fashion industry.

These include the ESPR, the Circular Economy Act, the revised Waste Framework Directive introducing compulsory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles, and the launch of Digital Product Passports (DPPs) to increase transparency and traceability.

Within the Alliance, Recover will concentrate on the traceability of recycled materials.

With growing awareness among brands and consumers about potentially misleading claims regarding recycled content, establishing a truly transparent and traceable textile supply chain is paramount. Improved traceability will facilitate genuine textile-to-textile circularity, reduce counterfeiting and prevent exaggerated claims about recycled content, ensuring verifiable sustainability declarations.

The Alliance is facilitated by 2B Policy, a consultancy that helps organisations manage complex regulatory environments.
