Reju, which specialises in turning polyester textiles and post-consumer PET waste back into usable materials, operates in collaboration with engineers, scientists and textile professionals from Europe and North America.

The company’s pilot Regeneration Hub is based in Frankfurt, Germany. Reju has also named future sites intended for industrial-scale operations in Chemelot, Netherlands, Rochester, New York State, and Lacq, France.

Recycling Europe secretary-general Julia Ettinger said: “We are delighted to welcome Reju as our newest partner of Recycling Europe Textiles. This partnership shows how industry collaboration can scale textile circularity at the speed Europe now needs — unlocking both environmental and economic opportunity”.

Founded in 2019, Recycling Europe Textiles seeks to reflect and advance the collective interests of textile recycling and reuse industries throughout Europe. Its activities include evaluating and providing advice on the practical adoption of the EU’s textiles strategy.

This covers areas such as the creation of eco-design criteria, proposals for mandatory recycled content in textiles, and the definition of end-of-waste criteria for the sector.

Reju becomes part of a group of branch partners that includes Coleo, ECOSERVICE, GftZ, Lenzing and Öpula.

Reju CEO Patrik Frisk said: “Building partnerships like this one are important and we have the opportunity to establish a genuine circular ecosystem for textile recycling and invite collaboration across the entire value chain”.

Recycling Europe represents the recycling industry across 24 EU and EFTA countries, with membership comprising 84 national federations and companies. Its members work across a range of recycling activities, from metals and paper to plastics, textiles, tyres, WEEE, ELVs, and waste from ships, construction and demolition.
