The gathering drew around 140 participants, including figures from politics, business, education and the international textile industry.
The meeting featured an update on Sweden’s economic outlook from Niklas Wykman, Minister for Financial Markets. Wykman, who has held the post since 2022 and is a doctor of economics, outlined the government’s priorities and reforms, providing what organisers described as “in-depth perspectives” on economic policy and the country’s financial future.
The event placed particular emphasis on advancing sustainability across the industry. Rossella De Angelis of Klopman spoke to participants about the way strategic sustainability efforts, combined with effective communication, are shaping the textile sector’s evolution and raising the bar for corporate social responsibility goals.
Highlighting the textile service industry’s shift towards circularity, Jessica Goguillon of Circulose described ongoing work to recycle textile fibres and secure sustainable raw material flows.
Andreas Dorner and Baris Özden from RE&UP Recycling Technologies discussed new European approaches and legislation pushing forward textile-to-textile recycling.
Industry professionals Susanne Beskow and Caroline von Post presented efforts to scale up textile recycling with projects such as circular uniforms for Hr Björkmans Entrémattor and the National Museum, and their collaboration with the City of Stockholm and Elis on meal shawls designed to replace disposable bibs.
Speakers also focused on leadership in both a business and societal context. Carola Lemne, Chairman of Samhall, shared her experiences from leadership positions in both the public and private sectors, stressing the need for integration in the labour market and highlighting sustainable leadership as vital for future societal development.
The importance of equipping the next generation for the evolving industry was addressed by Rickard Vinde of Solna Gymnasium, who argued for closer cooperation between education and business. Vinde was announced as the 2026 recipient of the Swedish Textile Service Association’s Sustainability Award and said he would donate the prize funds to Berättarministeriet.
The event also showcased the association’s new collaboration with Fiera Milano, a major organiser of international industry events, introduced by Marta Triulzi in anticipation of the ExpoDetergo exhibition’s return in the autumn.
Mats Hulth, former Finance City Councillor, reflected on Stockholm’s push to raise its global profile, referencing major events and initiatives that have put the Swedish capital on the international map.
During the meeting, Peter Havéus was named honorary member of the Swedish Textile Service Association in recognition of his contributions to the sector’s development and sustainability work.
