The sneaker, now available for £170, uses 98% “natural materials” and aims to align with Vivobarefoot’s target of creating footwear that is fully biodegradable and circular.

The newly released sneaker includes a 100% natural rubber outsole developed through collaboration with NFW.

Vivobarefoot states that the design seeks to reconnect wearers with natural movement through a barefoot fit that supports sensory feedback and unrestricted motion.

The company describes the introduction of the NFW Pliant outsole as central to this updated approach.

Vivobarefoot has outlined the material components for the Gobi II Sneaker Leather. The upper is made from chrome-free leather sourced from Buriram, Hyphalite, and soft cow suede.

The lining uses chrome-free Ayutthaya leather, while the laces are made from organic cotton.

In addition, the insole consists of cork, and the outsole is produced from natural rubber using NFW Pliant technology.

The brand says it intends to reduce waste by encouraging customers to return worn pairs via its Revivo programme. This initiative is designed to extend the product’s lifecycle, reflecting Vivobarefoot’s approach to designing for circularity.

The shoes are available for both women and men at an identical price point.

Vivobarefoot said: “The launch signals a major milestone in the evolution of sustainable footwear - where performance, style, and environmental responsibility are no longer trade-offs but essential, integrated elements.”

The Gobi II Sneaker Leather can be purchased through its own channels and selected global retailers.

Earlier this month, Vivobarefoot teamed up with AI loyalty technology provider Antavo to release a loyalty programme that rewards not only purchases but also non-transactional actions such as sustainable behaviour, movement, and learning.
