Coats Digital is pleased to announce that one of Türkiye’s leading ready-made clothing manufacturers, Üniteks, has adopted Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution to provide accurate, detailed, scientific methods across its production operations so it can optimise efficiencies, effectively streamline line balancing on the production floor and significantly improve its capacity planning processes. The adoption of GSDCost is expected to result in substantial improvements, ultimately boosting profits and ensuring seamless alignment with customer expectations.

Set up in 1990 and headquartered in İzmir, Türkiye, Üniteks manufactures intricately designed and crafted knitwear products for some of the world’s leading brands, including H&M, Inditex, Zara, C&A, Primark and Bershka.  The company has an annual production capacity of over 40 million units and boasts an annual turnover of $185m. Üniteks consistently retains a premier position in the Aegean Region Ready-to-Wear and Clothing Exporter’s leadership ranking and is recognised as one of İzmir’s top Five Firms and Türkiye’s Top 500 Industrial Enterprises.

Mr Ayhan Vatansever, Productivity & Investment manager of Üniteks, said: “The absence of standardised methods across our manufacturing units led to varied costings relying on inaccurate historical data and inconsistent time studies. This not only posed challenges during complex cost-to-make (CM) negotiations with customers but also resulted in persistent disagreements between our factories regarding SMVs and targets.”

Mr.Ayhan Hamza, in-house production manager of Üniteks, adds: “Countless hours were needlessly spent researching a multitude of spreadsheets to calculate unrealistic cost-to-make quotes and unbalanced production line schedules. Relying on guesswork and past experiences for crucial business decisions frequently resulted in either a meagre 3% to 5% profit margin on certain orders or, in some cases, a complete financial loss.”

Without the consistency and uniformity needed to provide accurate CM quotes, set realistic production goals, or draw up realistic production flows for its sewing lines, Üniteks decided to adopt Coats Digital’s recognised international method-time standards solution, GSDCost, to deliver a more transparent garment costing based on scientific and accurate data.

Mr. Nejat Erdoğan, general manager of Üniteks, said: “Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution was recommended by one of our top customers, which is using it to standardise SMV processes across its supply chain and build stronger relationships with vendor partners. Implementing GSDCost will enable us to standardise methods across our entire business so we can expedite CM planning and make pricing processes much more realistic. This will allow us to provide a better service to our customers by providing accurate cost assessments based on scientifically backed processes, reducing the need for complex price negotiations based solely on price points. Consequently, we anticipate a positive impact on our bottom line, gaining confidence to optimise previously idle production lines and explore new engineering opportunities to take on new, more complex order style requests as our production efficiencies improve.”

Coats Digital’s GSDCost is widely popular across the sewn products sector. Through this solution, clients can achieve a more well-connected and better-organised sustainable supply chain for manufacturers to optimise  ‘International Standard Time Benchmarks’ with standard motion codes and predetermined times. The uniformity of language and standards allows for to-the-point cost prediction, accurate negotiation and a seamless manufacturing procedure while upholding CSR commitments.

İbrahim Halil Hacıkamiloğlu – Solutions consulting manager of Coats Digital, commented:  ”Üniteks is a global leader in producing fine, quality knitwear, and we are delighted that such a prestigious Turkish manufacturer has chosen Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution to advance its digital transformation journey. By optimising its production processes using proven scientific methods, Üniteks is ensuring the future resilience of its business operations. In an era where brands seek closer partnerships with fully digitised supply chain partners, GSDCost provides a common language for brands and manufacturers, enabling them to meet CM targets while promoting more sustainable and ethical business practices – together. We look forward to supporting Üniteks with a seamless GSDCost implementation and comprehensive GSD™ methodology training programme so that they can quickly benefit from an optimised customer-centric approach that enhances efficiencies, boosts profits and maintains its leading position on the global stage ahead of its competition.”
