Denim finishing technology specialist Jeanologia says it has launched a new technology with the potential to “completely eliminate” discharge in the textile industry.
The Spanish company says H2 Zero contributes to the “complete dehydration and detoxification” of the textile industry by recycling the little water that it needs by using a combination of its jean production technologies.
“Successfully tried and tested by a few brands,” the technology recycles the little water that it needs by using a combination of the company’s jean production technologies – including laser, ozone and eflow.
Enrique Silla, Jeanologia’s CEO, says the company’s water savings, through existing initiatives, reached 10,651,000 m3 in 2018, 27% more than the previous year. By introducing H2 Zero the company is hoping to continue growing these savings by 50% annually for the next three years.
“Our objective isn’t to be the best in the world but to be the best for the world. To do so, we have given ourselves the objective of eliminating the use of water and total discharge in the world jean production within five years.
“This will be the first step to detoxify the textile industry” which, according to the UN, is the second most polluting industry on the planet and responsible for 20% of the toxins that contaminate our water.”
