The polyester hook and loop fasteners made by Japan’s Kuraray Fastening Co have been certified by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for textile safety.
The certification applies to the Magic Tape and Freemagic lines, which are also flame-resistant.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a certification system that certifies that a textile product is safe and does not contain any harmful substances.
During the past year, Kuraray Fastening switched all of its fabric hook and loop fasteners to polyester hook and loop fasteners made with an eco-friendly production process that does not use a back-coating agent.
“Acquiring this certification by Oeko-Tex Standard 100 provides our customers with a distinct, environmentally friendly option,” the company says.
The hook and loop fasteners also meet the standards of the European Union chemical REACH regulation and the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). They are now classified as Class 1 articles applicable to products for infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age.
