The programme for next month’s Prime Source Forum apparel sourcing conference is taking shape, with speakers lined up from around the world to discuss industry issues in China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Africa and the EU, as well as the ongong digital transformation of the fashion supply chain.
Included in the 13th edition of the annual event will be a look at the impact of China’s recent political and economic moves on the global fashion trade, and the challenges and opportunities of the Belt & Road Initiative.
There will also be a update on manufacturing in Africa, and its evolution as a fashion manufacturing frontier. And Dr Arkebe Oqubay from the Ministry of Ethiopia will speak about the latest developments in the country’s textile and garment industry.
Sessions on sourcing in Myanmar and the country’s new policies on Free-on-Board (FOB) production; automating the sourcing process with artificial intelligence; the application of Industry 4.0 and the digital transformation of the fashion supply chain, are also planned.
Keynote addresses will come from Hon Mr Md Shahriar Alam MP, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh; while Marc Compagnon, executive director and group president at Li & Fung Ltd will share the company’s vision of building the supply chain of the future through initiatives focused on speed, innovation and digitalisation.
The line-up includes speakers from VF Corp, PVH, Under Armour, New Balance, Texhong, World Bank Group, Better Work, TexRay Industrial, Maple Trading, the Thai Garment Manufacturers Association, and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
