One of the top posts on X from this week was from the Uzbek Forum for Human Rights after non-profit initiative Better Cotton suspended cotton producer Indorama Agro based on a complaint it had received raising concerns over human rights violations.

The complaint is understood to have followed “multiple reports from Uzbek Forum and local communities of violations across Indorama Agro’s operations in Syrdarya and Kashkadarya”.

A spokesperson at Better Cotton confirmed to Just Style the producer’s license had been suspended.

The Transformers Foundation, which represents the denim industry, urged stronger relationships with cotton farmers, suggesting it is the only way toward “real transformation” in the industry.

Following the release of its latest report update: ‘Cotton: A Case Study in Misinformation,‘ the Transformers Foundation said the report update aims to clarify the fashion industry’s “misinformation problem” with the most current and sound data from International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) with new data on fertilisers that was previously uncovered.
