TAIWAN: US Apparel Exports Could Shrink By $100m
The continuing US war in Afghanistan has hit Taiwanese fourth quarter apparel and textile exports as demand from the country's biggest customer drops off. Yen Hung-ming, an industrial analyst at the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), believes exports will shrink by 20 per cent or approximately US$100 million - although he acknowledges demand for army and medical textiles could increase.
